Acrylic and Metal Fabrication Capabilities
etal Dynamics,
Ltd., is a full service metal fabrication facility, featuring 65,000 square feet
of manufacturing and warehousing space.
Our facility includes 13 acres of industrial property and a Southern Pacific
Railroad spur line. We are centrally located in the eastern half of the United
States and are accessible to Interstates 64, 65 and 71.
The premier capability of Metal Dynamics is our "Concept to
Completion" approach to manufacturing our customers' product lines. Details
of this approach, as well as our in-house full service manufacturing
capabilities are listed below.
Product Design and Development |
|
|
As a service, Metal Dynamics, Ltd., offers in-house product design and
development, using the latest in CAD software and Computer Integrated
Manufacturing (CIM) technology.
To
expedite the products' designs and fabrication lead times, we have incorporated
our PC driven and CNC driven equipment into the product development process. Our
PC driven PRC laser accomplishes two tasks: 1. it reads information directly
from engineering drawings via disk; 2. it does not require tooling-up to produce
parts in the flat. Tooling-up for an operation can become time consuming and
costly.
To compliment the PRC laser, we have integrated the CNC auto-bending
equipment into the process to form the flats into parts. By utilizing the CNC
capabilities on the press equipment, it is possible to save the coordinates of a
prototype project, should it become a production run item.
Manufacturing
As a company who constantly designs and develops new products for a diversity
of markets, we are continually updating our facility to improve our
manufacturing process. The end results are increased productivity and quality
with decreases in defects and lead times.
The major achievements thus far:
1. We have a PC-driven work order management system which produces various
production documents which have contributed to improving production floor
scheduling, production reporting, inventory management and resource material
planning (MRPII) techniques. The MRPII techniques optimize purchasing and
allocation of raw materials, then optimize distribution of product throughout
the facility during various phases of manufacturing.
2. Cellular Manufacturing has been implemented to reduce multiple material
handling on the production floor. The entire production operation was analyzed
by manufacturing engineering to group complementary machinery into specified
work cells or lines for maximum productivity. The results are explained below:
Metal Shop --
All
punching, cutting and shearing operations are contained within this building.
Materials are offloaded into this building and the materials are processed here.
Production computer stations within this building allow supervisors access to
the most current product CADD files for each project. Drawings can be viewed,
saving time and elimiating the risk of using outdated drawings. Also, computer
programs for parts fabrication on the turrett punch presses and laser are linked
via Direct Numerical Control (DNC) over fiber optic lines from the computer
base.
Fabrication Shop -- Processed materials are directed into the
fabrication building for forming and related assembly processes. Machinery in
this facility have been positioned into four separate fabricating lines. The
main operations of this building include metal forming, spot welding, riveting,
deburring, pinch rolling and angle rolling.
Welding Shop -- This room is designed for custom products that require
special hand work or assembly. Stainless steel processing is also performed
here. Primary functions of this shop are: mig welding, tig welding, drilling,
tapping, turning, grinding, tube cutting and custom assembly.
Finishing Shop -- Most of our products are finished with an epoxy
powder coating. Compared to liquid paint, we have concluded that powder coating
is superior in finish, durability and safety for our end users. Powder coating
wraps all metal edges, eliminating costly deburr time on critical edges. Our
high volume production line includes the latest in automatic, reciprocating gun
applications. For short run applications, we have incorporated manual guns with
fluidizing hoppers which allow quick color changes with minimal downtime.
Packing - Assembly Instructions - Bar Code |

Metal Dynamics is always reviewing current packing methods to ensure
reductions in transit damage. Presently, we produce and package turnkey products
that are shipped worldwide. With each packaged product, we enclose an assembly
instruction sheet with a bill of materials.
